TYPES OF BRAS
There are so many different brands and styles of bras available. We have covered the basics below:
|
The half cup bra
This bra is great for low square-cut necklines. It is sexier and more revealing than the 'everyday' bra. Its straps are thin and wide set and this is the bra you need if you want to show off
your cleavage (cleavage is where your breasts touch each other).
|
The push-up bra
If you want your boobs to look bigger than they really are, then this is the bra for you! Choose either a demi with moulded, lightly padded cups or a padded bra with only slight push-up action. They'll give you the appearance of having bigger breasts, while still looking and feeling quite natural.
|
The underwire bra
The underwire bra has wires concealed in the cups of the bra which provide hold and support. These are available for almost every chest size. Generally they have some great colours and designs and will always give you the comfort and support
you need - especially if you have bigger boobs. Believe me, the wires don't hurt or cut into you if you are wearing the correct size.

The soft cup bra
These are a 'no wires' bra and are really comfortable for anyone with smaller beasts, but they aren't as good as an underwire bra if
you have larger breasts and need
shape and support.
|
The minimiser bra
These bras are good for women with large breasts who want
their bust to appear smaller. They're made from a sturdy fabric,
but the cups are quite shallow. The result: your breasts are pressed against your rib-cage and pushed around into the extra fabric under your arms which make your boobs look even
smaller - clever, isn't it?

The strapless bra
Perfect for strapless tops or tops where you don't want your bra straps to be seen. The strapless bras supporting and shaping skills all depend on the horizontal back strap. Look for styles
with extra-wide back bands and comfortable elastic along the
top of the cups that will keep the bra snugly in place,
otherwise your bra could end up down around your waist!
Make certain you try them all on as sometimes the elastic can
be scratchy or itchy.

The sports bra
These bras do so much more extra things to protect your boobs than 'everyday' bras. It's been well publicised that a good sports bra can reduce the bounce of your boobs by 50%. Sports bras are generally tighter, very structured and help reduce movement of the breasts. Many of them have fabrics designed to take the moisture away from the skin which helps us to stay cooler and dry. They also are made with mesh fabrics for circulation and the cups are lined to stop the nipples from chaffing.

Special purpose bras
Maternity bras: These are bras for pregnant and post-pregnant women. Maternity bras generally have drop down cups for easy access when feeding.
Mastectomy bras: These are for women who have had breast cancer. Note: these same women can also wear bras like you and I wear as long as they are fitted by an experienced fitter. |
